At 1:30 PM, all quiet on the western front. Morristown TN radar (GSP is currently out of commission) doesnt show any activity. However that may change in the next few hours. Visible satellite shows some building cumulus along the Blue Ridge and Black Mountain. With temperatures along the I-40 corridor in the mid 80s and dew points around 70° (it is humid out there!) I can easily see at least isolated thunderstorms building up during the afternoon. What you like to see during a summer afternoon are steep temperature falls with height; we dont have these at the moment but if a disturbance moves across the area later to day, that may change. Proceed with your outdoor activities but be alert for threatening skies and keep a battery-powered weather radio handy, especially in the vicinity of Lake James.--Steve.
