At Inner Self and Heart Song Vision we believe in... Being Powerful So many times in society and in history, there are stories of the powerful taking advantage of the less powerful. The Machiavelli mindset is just that. Might makes right, a common saying now, came from that. Warriors literally plowing over and taking advantage of the enemy and all the collateral damage they choose to create as part of their right of victory. In modern culture, strong companies using and abusing the little guy by taking him or her over, by running out of business the ma and pa companies, by dangerous practices that hurt the environment, or take advantage of the consumer, are the current use of that Machiavelli mindset. Some rich people whether born in it or newly minted through their own efforts sometimes tends to be in that mindset. Many take whatever advantage of the less than people, the poorer people just because they can. Some poorer people take advantage of the rich, of the systems in society, of the goodness of others, the desire to fix the problems of the victim. Some people play the victim, use their victim, revel in and make sure all know that they deserve to have all needed, given to them; using their victim as their power over others. These victims think that the only power they have is just that and because they aren’t strong except in victimy, so they get to take advantage of others just like some rich people, some companies and some historical stories. Rape and Abuse is a form of bullying, or Machiavelli might makes right. It’s taking the power from another and diminishing the other. Here’s the reality. This power is so common because its the easiest kind of power to have, that which you take from someone because it is easier to take than any other power. We began to learn power and how to get power from when we were 4 in the sand box and wanted the shovel our younger or smaller cousin was playing with, so we took it. Bullying is born here. It’s the easiest power to achieve and depending on your parenting, it might be the only kind you are aware of. Pretty much anyone can achieve this kind of power, which makes it common, easy, worth less and short lived. Common does not make right, good, true or lasting. Common is just easy. So what is rightful, good, real, lasting power? There are at least 2 kinds, both are given, not taken. Did you get that?! Given… The power others give you and the power you give yourself. People give power to others to receive whatever they perceive that person can do for them that is needed. Allegiance to country and/or King is given (when its lasting). Marital success comes from both parties giving power to the other. Capitalism works when the powerful and the weak give what they have to give, not more or less. When a stranger pays it forward, they essentially give power to the other person. This power is relevant, huge, purposeful, accepted, acceptable, and chosen. It makes each of us, as individuals, more powerful in general as well as levels up society as an entity. This is a lasting real, right, good power. The second and yet most powerful human power in existence in the world is rare, extremely valuable, not for sale, not transferrable and completely achievable by any, but not chosen by many. It is that which you gain from inside self. It is what your give yourself, and is forged over time, consciously and with purpose, goal and effort. Its is that which allows a man to drill at his temple and not break his skin (my son pulled up the video). It is what allows an Olympic skater to win the gold with a sprained ankle a week after a parent dies. It’s what allows one country to make an agreement to stop war with another country without retaliation. It is what helps a violently raped woman and her little brother to forgive the man that committed this pain. No one can stop this power, nor remove it, nor diminish it, only the person who created it. The only power stronger than this is the power that made the world exist. It is where spiritual knowledge comes from. It is what causes a mom to lift a burning car off her child. It’s what gives us purpose and reason to exist. I challenge you to be rare, create lasting power in your life and in the lives of others. Be powerful! Annette Aldridge #powerful #rich #poor #Machiavelli
