At Instinct safaris,we are continuing to define Ecotourism in Rubuguri a small town neighboring Bwindi impenetrable national park as one strategy for supporting conservation and providing income for communities in and around this protected area,Talking about Bwindi,I mean a home to more than half of the worlds critically endangered mountain gorillas on top of more endemic Albertine species both in this pristine environment. While envisioned as a positive strategy/approach towards sustainable development, we understand the challenges of the lucrative unplanned or poorly planned and implemented tourism here and have led to serious negative effects on the environment and on communities, offsetting the benefits it was designed to provide. In order to anticipate negative impacts and to prevent or mitigate them, we have trained and empowered a distinguishable team on ecotourism impacts monitoring as a requirement with various visitor impacts management methodologies as applied else where in the developing world. few monitoring programs have assessed socio-cultural impacts on nearby Bwindi communities. We welcome any voluntary ideas and further methodology which is easy to implement either on limited budgets or limited technical expertise is needed for Rubuguri community.
