At Its Best… At its best, running an animal rescue is never - TopicsExpress

At Its Best… At its best, running an animal rescue is never easy. While getting to meet many new furiends and have some special puppy time, this is always accompanied by their care. Scooping, shoveling, watering, feeding, vaccinating, transporting, healing. Amid floods and hostile environment. Needing to move where we won’t flood or have to worry about the hostility but too busy with work here to be able to afford it. We do try our best to keep it upbeat. To reflect only the best to our Facebook family. Some days, it just gets so hard to do. Today, we received this beautiful little “golden child” puppy. She had been ran over by a vehicle. Left outside, she was left there until her people determined that maybe her injuries were not going to get better on their own. From the time she came to us and we started pulling the spear grass from her body until the time the vet completed her assessment, this little girl never showed any response to the pain. Scared and used to what must be intense pain, she simply clung to whoever she was closest to. Please give this gutsy little girl your best. It is with a great deal of hope that with strict crate rest, a good diet, time, and a lot of good fortune, this little girl will again be healed and whole. We named her Keeva, meaning protect and shelter. As we were heading back to RezQ Dogs central (for those of you who do not know, the vet’s office is about 1 ½ hour each way), a call came through. A member of our Facebook family had been driving down the highway when the vehicle ahead of her pulled over. A man promptly proceeded to throw these two black and white beauties into the weeds, got back in to his vehicle and drove off. If not for this wonderful person, these two furiends would probably be lifeless, laying on the pavement. That is the toughest part of what we do. Everything else just makes us tired. Witnessing treatment such as this, with all of the options available, sometimes almost seems to steal your soul. It sometimes makes for a very long, sad, day. This is not a happy post. I apologize for that. Sometimes, we too need to vent. Get it off of our chest. Share it with others who view it as we do so that we know we are not alone. That we do not expect too much from our fellow humans. BUT, tomorrow will be better. We always look forward to tomorrow and a better day. Please take a moment to greet our new “kids”. Wish them luck. Share. Spay/neuter…share your stand on animal rights. Thank you.
