At last, finally doing the initial testing and tuning on Chris - TopicsExpress

At last, finally doing the initial testing and tuning on Chris Sticha cobra venom 260. Extra thanks to Chris for his patience with this, Adam behnke for driving so I could man the laptop, Ron Leffingwell for the extra hands, and last but definitely not least, Errol McCollum for doing the remote tuning session with me. We got it a little better than halfway at this point, and the next session is gonna be incredible. This project has taken me about a year to get here. Started life as a mercruiser 496 mag ho, and has evolved into an amazing upgrade package for anyone with these motors in their boat. 425hp base from the factory, made well over 800 on a stingy dyno on 91 octane fuel at less than 8 psi boost. When it ran on the dyno, it didnt have an intercooler, and it was still running the factory ecm that I couldnt control. The tune was way off and losing a ton of power. My math puts this combo at right around 900 hp and 950 ft lbs on pump gas. The final round of tuning will tell the story, but today was good... It ran 70 at 3000 rpms, cruising with the engine in vacuum. It ran 90 at 4000 rpms at 1 psi boost, and it ran 99 at 4900 at only 46% throttle. Anything over half throttle and the tune is still just way too rich and lays over, but today was an amazing starting point! Ill update after the next tuning session.
