At least 11 suspected members of militant group, Boko Haram, were arrested by a vigilante group in Adamawa state on Sunday, the military said. The suspected fighters were arrested in Michika town of Adamawa state. The Commanding Officer of Special Operation Battalion, Mubi, Lt Col Beyidi Martins, confirmed the arrest. Mr Martins told PREMIUM TIMES that the suspects were arrested on Saturday by men of the battalion and JTF from Maiduguri with the assistance of civilian JTF. He said six of the suspects were taken to Maiduguri by the JTF while five were brought to Mubi. He said four of the five suspects taken to Mubi were manhandled by the civilian JTF when they resisted arrest. Two of the suspects died due to injuries. “Two others died today (Sunday) of injuries. We now have one still alive and is being interrogated,” Mr Martins said. A resident, Josiah Moses, who spoke to PREMIUM TIMES from Michika, said the civilian JTF accompanied by soldiers stormed Michika looking for suspects alleged to have run to Michika from Bama town in neighbouring Borno state. “The civilian JTF arrested about 17 people and some of the suspects who swore by Holy Quran of their innocence were set free,” the eye witness said. Last Wednesday, Ga’anda district administrative Headquarters of Lala development area in Gombi local government of Adamawa state came under severe attack by unknown gunmen who killed two police officers as two others were severely injured.
