At night, after leaving the school library, I was treated by my friend Kelvin, whom is coming from Shanghai. The dinner was great, thank you. On the way back home, I noticed there was indeed some beggars sitting along the flourishing Northrumbia street. The weather is cold now, blazing wind, the poor and needy reveals a great contrast to the grand street with luxuries shops on two sides. When I saw them, I felt sorry for the beggar. They don’t deserve this, they deserve much better. I can hardly imagine civilized and modern city like Newcastle in United Kingdom, living with so many beggars. I walk passed a few of them, without helping them, I felt guilty and sorry. I wonder why all the people walk pass them did not feel a thing, not a small sympathy, and did not consider offering any help. They got the finest clothes and accommodation, are they cold blood? Would they ever gave a second thought of if I were them, how would I felt right now. Yes, they need a hand, they need help. I walked pass a lady, age around 28 to 35. She asked to people that walk by her, do you have any changes？ When she notice I was glancing at her, she asked me the same question. I gave her 1 pound and 80 pence I guess, which around the same value 18 rmb. She is a young lady , and sadly homeless. She said, she don’t deserve this, and afraid of being rape by men if she slept outside. She need 19 pounds in total to find a place to stay for the long night. She asked me if I got further changes, and I rejected her. What can I do, I am just a student. I am lucky as I am born in a harmony family. People aren’t that different in nature, I am just lucky. People nowadays are too indifferent to things that are happening around them, too selfish to notice or just do not care even to ask or offer help. They wait for the government, the rich, social worker to help those with needs, they always assumed that is none of my business. I can never understand why some people can enjoy buffet meanwhile some doesnot have adequate food to eat. Some living in villas while one don’t even have a place to stay for the night. I don’t know how to answer or solving this problem. I only know one thing, if all of us just care a little more about things happening around us, and willing to offer help, this world would have become much more harmony. Why you could be the origin of love? Just a little help seems no big deal to you, but it really means a lot to those who are in needs. Best wishes to all.
