At risk of going against the grain I am in favour of the 2 tier - TopicsExpress

At risk of going against the grain I am in favour of the 2 tier system. From an educational point of view i believe it benefits our children. They only have to change schools once - less upheaval and change. they will change school in line with the key stages of education, at year 7. They will complete their primary education within a primary setting rather than a half primary half secondary environment. Teachers will get to know out children for 3 full academic year rather than 1.5 terms before their Key stage 3 exams and the start of their GCSEs. As they will have taught them all key stage 3 (yr 7-9) they will be able to correctly refer back to previous lessons taught without half the class looking blank. This will also improve the exam results of our schools. Also think how scary it is for our year 4 children to go to school with yr 9 children. I also feel that when doing GCSE and beyond children are more likely to approach a teacher they have known for sometime and who they have been able to build a rapport with for help than a teacher they hardly, know. In return knowing our children will allow teachers to bring out their best in subjects and exams. As a race humans are fearful of change and i hope that this does not prevent change to a 2 tier system, something which from an academic view is best for our children and their future rather than remain in the comfort of a 3 tier systems because its what we have in uttoxeter
