At roughly 1.5 billion pixels (picture elements), the new picture from the Hubble of the Andromeda Galaxy (The one thats slated to slam into the Milky Way in a few billion years) takes up 4.3GBs. Yes, a single picture and at a resolution of 69,536 x 22,230 you can zoom in to see individual stars. Although faint and dim, the picture contains around 100 million stars in a galaxy that has about 1.43 trillion in total. Heres a video showing the scope and grandeur of it all. Many of the bright colors or larger objects are in fact other galaxies in the view through Andromeda. Ill also post a link to the source which uses a zoom tool for ease of use. spacetelescope.org/images/heic1502a/zoomable/ P.S.- For those with a 4k monitor, especially if its 144hz+, make sure to click 4k in the video for something truly amazing. Also, great song by Koda. Its in my chillout playlist. **Nerd info** Color variations are of blue and red which is blue shift and red shift. Since the galaxy is moving towards us, the wavelength of light tightens causing it to shift towards the blue scale for much of the outer sector stars.
