At some point Im going to make a video so I can talk to you about this. But so far, I havent been satisfied with the videos Ive made (and done a gazillion takes to get right), so for now, Im going to talk to you by typing. Regardless of whether you participate in this program or not, if you are someone who wants to make some changes in your life (small or large) and you havent been reliable about making those changes sustainably, please read this. The next The Well Being Challenge is coming up. We start the Challenge on October 20th. If youve been waiting until the right time - this is it - Its the right time, right now. To make a sustainable change you have to: 1) Determine what your values are in life (The Challenge does this through the Values Profile). These are not what you THINK you value, or what you WANT to value - this is what you ACTUALLY value. If you think those are all the same thing, you are going to be surprised. 2) Determine what practices you will take on in the areas that you want to change that are aligned with your values. 3) Learn what constitutes a practice (almost no one is masterful at designing practices that are really practices). 4) Create a community of authentic support. 5) Create a way to be accountable that includes consequences that pinch when you dont follow your practices. 6) Create at least a 16-week time frame to practice your practices. 7) Create an opportunity to review what worked about your practices and what didnt; take a rest period; design your practices and start again.
