Zambia and many African Countries have come a long in their development and no one should take that away from them despite the external interference that the continent continues to experience. I have observed with some interests how some Diaspora based colleagues want to paint Africa as a place where we are corrupt and have mis-prioritized issues; admittedly, there is corruption and lack of adherence to policies but that is not the only story to our misfortunes. African nations after gaining political independence lost almost three decades to internal conflicts fueled by World powers. For instance, the war in Angola, DR Congo, Liberia, Nigeria, Central African Republic, Zimbabwe liberation struggle, South Africa Apartheid, Mozambique war, Uganda, Rwanda, Côte d’Ivoire, Somalia, and many others could easily be linked to external interference. In every generation Africa is facing a new wave of challenge and right now we are fighting an economic war that ought to be fought using Brains and not guns. This can only be realized through building human and infrastructure capital. This can be attained by technology and skills transfer. A lot of Africans in the diaspora and back home alike have a huge opportunity to collaborate in commerce and technological frontiers. Governments must provide the environment for this interaction.
