At some point we must evolve to the point that we realize that every living thing on this earth fears death the same way we do. In the case of animals that we have domesticated, they view us as Gods and as friends. When someone butchers one of them they experience terror the same way we do. They are like abused children who wonder why they are being beaten by someone that they worship. When we abuse our position of power on this earth and cause suffering of this nature we are the beast. If we are to be what we envision our selves to be, enlightened, then we must stop this abuse of our fellow beings. I believe we will judge ourselves harshly in the end for this sin of incredible magnitude.
