At the April 8, 2014 Council for Public Works meeting, Council directed that a Statement of Concern be sent to the Alberta Energy Regulator regarding the Bonavista Operations at LSD 1-23-46-2 W5M, noting the proximity to the creek bed which flows into the Battle Lake, use of the existing pad versus the potential loss of five acres of trees and the impact of the fracking under the Battle Lake Campground and the lake. On April 9, 2014 Kathy Rooyakkers, Reeve sent a Statement of Concern to Alberta Energy Regulator (AER). On April 17, 2014 Administration received a response from AER which read as follows: The Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) acknowledges receipt of your letter dated April 9, 2014, indicating your statement of concern to the proposed operations near Battle Lake. Please be advised that applications for the proposed infrastructure, water act, and EPEA have not been received by the AER to date. Your statement of concern has been entered into the AER database and the system will track your statement of concern. Your statement of concern will expire on April 9, 2015 and will be closed from the system without further communication unless it is linked to an active application prior to that date. The AER offers and strongly recommends you make use of our Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) program which features either staff or third party mediation arranged through an AER mediator.
