At the invitation of the Corvallis police chief, two NAACP members plan to facilitate discussions between Corvallis-area residents and police officers, with the goals of developing mutual understanding and strong relationships. Workshop participants will share accounts of any experiences they have had with the police and discuss in small groups the complexities of culture, race and stereotypes. People of color and LGBTQ people are especially encouraged to attend. Everyone is welcome, so please share this information with your network. Four identical workshop sessions are being offered: Tuesday, November 18 and Friday, November 21 from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. and from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Location: Mason Hall, 306 Madison Ave. in downtown Corvallis. Participants must complete an application and consent to a background check (no cost). If interested, send me your email address right away and Ill send you the necessary forms.
