At the leeward gate of Race 2 Ranger hold a very small lead over Lionheart. Ranger started best at the pin end of the line jumping ahead after a nice speed build in the last few seconds to the gun. That allowed them to sail the left side upwind while Lionheart had to make two extra tacks. At the windward mark Ranger lead Lionheart by about 28 seconds. They gybed earlier on the run, further offshore initially into lighter breeze and by the leeward gate they were only just ahead of the prowling Lionheart which split to the right hand gate mark looking upwind The race started in 13kts NW breeze
