She serves on the boards of the Arizona Music Educators Association, the Arizona Alliance for Arts Education, and the State Education Agencies Directors of Arts Education national association. • Alex Nelson, AZ Commission on the Arts Prior to joining the arts administration field, Alex worked as a teaching artist, museum educator and stage manager. She currently serves as the Arts Learning Coordinator with Arizona’s state arts agency, the Arizona Commission on the Arts. • Karen Kay Husted, Arts for Border Children Karen Husted has 45 years of educational experience centered in the arts, and has been a classroom teacher of students K–18. The key concepts guiding Karen’s work in schools is rooted in current research which has proven repeatedly that an arts-enriched curriculum improves learning in all disciplines. Currently she is the founder and executive director of ARTS FOR “BORDER” CHILDREN. • Paul Fisher, Arts for Border Children Paul Fisher is a private consultant specializing in the use of creativity and theatre as tools of assessment, learning, communication and critical thinking. He has conducted staff development and worked in-classroom with The University of Arizona, Tucson Unified, Marana and Sunnyside School Districts, charter and private schools. Mr. Fisher is also a performer, writer and director. Referred to as “the Robin Williams of Education”, he is a veteran teacher. Mr. Fisher always provides a stimulating, hilarious & educational experience.
