Attention anyone racing a 5hp Briggs Flathead in the LADIES Division or the STOCK Flathead division. There a lot of used karts being sold with the 5hp Briggs Flathead on them to new people getting into the sport of Karting. This is due to the fact that in our area (Southeast) the engine of choice is now the 6.5 hp Clone engine. Many people are using the fact that someone is new to the sport to get rid of engines that are not as popular as in the past. PLEASE...MAKE SURE THAT THE ENGINE YOU HAVE IS AN AKRA/WKA LEGAL STOCK ENGINE. I have seen modified engines being sold as a stock engine to a new person.... so if you have ANY doubt if your engine is legal... it would be best to take it to one of the parts vendors/ engine builders in the area to have it checked out.
