Attention moms (and other morning people): are you looking to start off your busy day with some challenging, invigorating exercise built on a solid sensible foundation of breathing and stretching? My name is Steve Crooks, and for over ten years Ive taught the program I developed myself, FELIS Fitness, here in the Bloomfield area. No, its not Yoga or Pilates or Zumba or Booty-Blast or whatever. So what is it? FELIS Fitness is a progressive class wherein youll learn how to increase your flexibility safely, how to warm up and prepare both for the challenge of exercise and the challenge of your everyday life. In FELIS Fitness not only will you learn a series of basic exercises that ANYONE can start off with, but in no time youll learn how to change-up and increase the intensity of those exercises, as well as mix and match them to create an endless variety of daily routines. Yes, we start with the basic foundations, because keeping everyone injury-free is the MOST important thing. But believe me, the NEXT most important thing is to keep you from becoming bored to tears with your workout routine. Did you know that BOREDOM is the #1 reason people fall off of their workout goals? With its focus on creative variety and progressive challenge, FELIS Fitness is the solution to that! Having acquired my training certification from the prestigious National Academy of Sports Medicine, I believe that, besides working up a sweat, burning calories, losing weight and gaining lean muscle, exercise is the perfect opportunity to learn HOW OUR BODIES WORK. Its amazing how little most folks actually know. Knowledge keeps you safe and injury-free, lifting, carrying and moving in a way that doesnt harm your body. Knowledge allows you to train smarter, with the understanding of what your body needs to grow and maintain itself. And knowledge insures that the flexibility, energy, life, inspiration and strength we work to acquire now, will stay with us for the long haul. So if youre looking for someone to hollar at the top of their lungs, telling you WHAT TO DO... sorry, cant help you there. But if youre looking for a trainer to show you WHAT to do, HOW to do it, and most importantly WHY were doing it, as well as how to adapt if you CANT do it, and how to creatively convert these routines into effective muscle-building calorie-burners ANYWHERE, ANY TIME... Then FELIS Fitness is the program for you! Now Ive got to admit, weve done an awful lot of FELIS Fitness outdoors in our excellent variety of local parks and athletic fields. But its getting chilly outside, so FELIS Fitness is coming INDOORS! Thats right, starting next week you can find FELIS Fitness indoors at OAKESIDE MANSION on Belleville Ave on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings, as well as at ST. JAMES CHURCH on the corner of Valley Rd. and Bellevue Ave. in Montclair. All classes start at 9:15am. Thats FIVE DAYS OF FELIS! And guaranteed, every day is a new fitness adventure!
