Attention parents and student-athletes. If your son(s) is verbally - TopicsExpress

Attention parents and student-athletes. If your son(s) is verbally offered a scholarship(s) during the 9th and 10th grade. Understand, college coaches cant call nor text student-athletes during this time frame. College coaches can only send [mail] and contact student-athletes through [social media]. This is the main reason why college coaches invite student-athletes (9th & 10th grade) to football camps so they can meet them in person. However, between the 9th and 10th grade, if you student-athletes noticed. They ask you to write down all your social media accounts. Why? Because theyre now monitoring you. You can lose a verbal offer right away from what you post and share and not even know it, but you think you still have an offer. When your junior and senior season arrive. This is when the communication between college coach and student-athlete begins. College coaches can now meet you in person, call and text you. At the end of junior season, youre basically a senior in other words entering spring and the communication process is extremely important from here on out. Kids think since theyve mutiple offers, I dont need to communicate with college coaches and Im just going to commit on national signing day and sport my school hat and off to college I go, WRONG. Unless youre a 5star. For example, College coaches bring in (25) guys per year from high school, prep and junior college. If you lack communication with college coaches and their recruiting class fills up, you just lost your scholarship. Some college coaches have a heart and will make you aware of the situation giving you a certain time frame to commit or they will use your offer on someone else who communicate with them often, unlike you. If youre a senior with one offer and waiting for a bigger offer all the way up to National Signing Day, what youre doing is incorrect. Because that school eventually will stop waiting on you and pull their offer. Now you have zero offers. If youre an under-the-radar athlete and is offered a scholarship during your senior season its smart if you verbally commit on the spot and wait and see if something better comes alone. If not, youre still going to school on a full scholarship.
