Attention please, People of Mandi Bahauddin DBA Mandi Bahauddin has no legal authority to impose any type of tax on litigant public coming to judicial complex in connection with cases. But DBA through a so called contractor collect parking fee from those who park vehicles at road or at parking place at rate of Rs 20 per bicycle/motorbike and Rs 30 per light vehicle. Persons showing reluctance to pay this Jugga tax are harassed and manhandled and in case they do not pay, their vehicles are snatched. At average more than one thousand motorcycles/bicycles and about thirty five light vehicles are parked daily. Extortion money collected in the name of parking fee forcibly from their owners if added comes to Rs 21050. It means every day litigant public or visitors are deprived of Rs 21050. Where does this money go? DBA does not maintain proper account nor is it audited by any registered auditing firm. And if proper accounting of income is not maintained it amounts to misappropriation. On the complaint of several ex-servicemen and other citizens Pakistan Ex-Servicemen Society Mandi Bahauddin Chapter has written a letter to District and Sessions Judge, DCO and DPO with a request to stop this continuing malpractice of extracting/extorting money from citizens in the name of parking fee. We are expecting appositive response from the above authorities. However in case the authorities hesitate to take action, ex-servicemen would stop paying this illegal tax. Members of civil society are requested to support ex-servicemen in their resistance movement against extortion mafia.
