Auditions begin tonight for After Miss Julie, which plays from 21st -29th November. This is the emotionally charged and challenging story of Miss Julie, a needy and sensual aristocratic daughter who immediately displays her desire to control everything, even the chauffer (John) who is having a late drink with his fiancé-to-be, the cook (Christine). It is July 1945, the end of a late night party to celebrate the landslide Labour victory where Winston Churchill was ousted in favour of Clement Attlee The young aristocratic daughter arrives home slightly the worse for the celebrations and immediately goes below-stairs to the kitchen where two of the country house staff are working. The story follows the twists and turns of power, authority and the desires of the underclasses as they clash with the uncontrollable spiraling of those more privileged. An immensely moving play that will test cast and audience alike.
