Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology Queensland Coastal Waters Wind Warning For Torres Strait to Point Danger, excluding Hervey Bay and Moreton Bay. Issued at 4:45 am EST on Thursday 25 July 2013 Synoptic Situation A large high [1032 hPa] over southeastern Australia extends a firm ridge over inland and central Queensland. The high will maintain the firm ridge as it shifts slowly east into the Tasman Sea over the next few days. Strong Wind Warning Torres Strait to Cairns Southeasterly winds 25 to 33 knots. Seas to 3.5 metres outside the reef and 2.2 metres inside the reef. A 1.5 to 2 metre southeasterly swell outside the reef. Strong Wind Warning Cairns to Sandy Cape Expect south to southeasterly winds to reach 25 to 30 knots at times during Thursday, mostly over offshore waters. Seas to 3 metres in open waters with a 1.5 to 2.5 metre south to southeasterly swell developing from the south. Strong Wind Warning Sandy Cape to Point Danger, excluding Hervey Bay and Moreton Bay Expect south to southeasterly winds 25 to 30 knots. Seas to 3 metres with a 2 to 3 metre southerly swell. Winds are expected to decrease below 26 knots during this morning. The next warning will be issued by 11 am AEST.
