The first school term is nearly over and the children will be home for a couple of weeks, and as this is the winter break most of the time will be spent indoors. Here are a few simple ides to help . a) Make a schedule of activities well in advance. The things most challenging for children with autism is changes in routine. So, being well prepared for a few changes is important. b) Involve them as much as possible, going to the local shop could be a daily activity choosing a time when you think the shop will be quiet. c) Plan a day out. Again preparation is the key here, have a social story prepared about what the day will be like. d) Schedule some home crafts, art is a great way of getting them to be creative. e) Handling family get togethers dont be afraid to say no you cant go.
