Avantha Power synchronizes first 600 MW unit in Chhattisgarh MyIris Avantha Power & Infrastructure (APIL), a part of the USD 4 billion Avantha Group, announced synchronization of its first unit of 600 MW in Raigarh, Chhattisgarh through its wholly owned subsidiary Korba West Power Company (KWPCL). With this synchronization, APILs generation capacity is at 626.19 MW. APIL began construction in August 2010 and successfully executed the project in 38 months. BHEL has supplied the BTG (Boiler, Turbine, and Generator) equipments. APIL has another 1,860 MW under various stages of construction and an additional 1,320 MW under planning. Gautam Thapar, founder and chairman of the Avantha Group, stated, With this milestone, APIL progresses towards our vision of achieving a market position based on solid execution, growth and accomplishment. I am confident that APIL will continue to deliver the best possible results for all stakeholders, today and in the future. APILs chief operating officer K.N. Neelkant said, Avantha Power & Infrastructure said This marks the commencement of a new phase for APIL and our presence in the IPP segment. The synchronization of our first 600MW unit in Chhattisgarh reflects our commitment to contribute towards Indias growing energy demand. We are aggressively progressing with our plans of adding to the installed capacity.
