Awoleye urges muslims to imbibe lessons learnt in Ramadhan The lawmaker representing Ibadan North Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon. Abiodun Dada Awoleye under the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, has urged Muslims across the globe to imbibe the lessons and teachings of the just concluded Ramadan fasting. He stated this in his Eld Fitri message made available to newsmen in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital. He said Muslims should endeavour to make use of the lessons of the period by living an exemplary life with their counterparts. He said: “Our Muslim brothers and sisters across the globe, having understand the teachings and lessons of Ramadan, that centre on spiritual cleanliness through fasting, wealth redistribution through Zakat and Zakat Fitri and piousness to call on God to rescue Nigeria from the array of social problems confronting it”. Hon. Awoleye who is a member of the house committees on Communication Technology, Justice, Health and Population, also urged religion scholars and preachers to continue to preach to the people the lessons of the holy month throughout the year and not just only the period of fasting. He said “religion scholars should continue to preach peace, harmony, unity and sacrifice as being done during the sacred holy month, the teachings and lessons of the month fasting are enough for one to live a comfortable and exemplary life in the society”. “The period represents the period of sacrifice, forgiveness, sharing, love and care to those around us, both the rich and the poor. I seized this medium to call on the rich and all well-meaning Nigerians both home and in the Diaspora to use part of their wealth in reaching out to the poor so as to bridge the gap of inequality in our society. This is a wakeup call to reach out to the less privilege and the needy in the society because this is part of what the period of one month fasting represents”. Hon. Awoleye maintained that Muslims should endeavour to be of good behaviours the way they were during the Ramadan fasting. “It is my belief that everybody respects the month by behaving well during the holy month. I urged them to continue with the good acts”. Signed Musliudeen Adebayo Media Aide
