Ayurveda says ‘Eattttttt your food… Don’t just DUMP it in!’ Diet for us simply means the food we take in – whether healthy or not is none of our concern. Isn’t that right? Only if the modern-day technology allowed smartphones to click pictures of our inner stomach, then we would stop cribbing about the garbage that lies outside our apartments, as our stomach will look a hundred times uglier and dirtier than we could ever imagine. In the name of food, the amount of garbage we dump into our bodies is appalling and what is even more painful is the kind of ill-treatment we give to our body while dining. We barely concentrate on what kind of, how or how much food goes into our body, as that’s the ideal time for us to catch-up on that super-interesting football match or the never-ending saas-bahu sagas on the idiot box. Even worse, it could be the perfect time for us to get into a gossip session with a friend over the phone. You may ask, how on earth does all this matter? Well, it does! The word “Ahara” in Sanskrit means any kind of food that we take in, from any mode. Our “Ahara” forms the basis of our diet. As per Ayurveda, it is not just important to see what we eat but to use all our senses while we eat, because what we see on our plate is just 1/5 of our diet. The rest is acquired through our other senses. What we eat is undoubtedly important, but it is even more important to know what eats us, what we are ingesting inside, what we touch, what we feel, what we sense, what we smell, what we listen to, and all the other sensory experiences that are being ingested and metabolized to help our food become a part of our body. It’s important for us to feellllllllll our food, eatttttttt our food… instead of just dumping it in. Try the above-mentioned for exactly 3 weeks to see dramatic changes within your body and in your appearance. And by the way, this is one of the best ways to look happier and in shape.
