B.C. to be the headquarters of a new airline to employ 650 people Transportation / Airline Perhaps its not exactly a new airline, but the recently launched Air Canada Rouge has confirmed they will be based out of Vancouver and will expand their workforce to 650 people, with new hiring initiated last week and most expected to come from Metro Vancouver. Having already hired 220 employees, the airline launched service last year with destinations in Europe, the U.S. and the Caribbean. A key quality to the new airline will be lower prices. Hoping to borrow from the well established quirkiness of WestJet, flight attendants with Air Canada Rouge will wear trilby hats, brightly coloured cardigans and John Fluevog shoes. Flight attendants salaries will start at $25,000 per year. New hiring isnt just confined for Air Canada. Another new airline has launched in Vancouver called Jetlines has hired 25 people with the hope to begin offering service in Western Canada in the fall of 2014.
