BAA Heathrow FC Res Vs Burnham Garibaldi 01Dec 2013 Déjà vu anyone? BAA Heathrow Reserves form this season has been hit and miss this season and with the good performances recently, they looked to rectify the result from last weekend’s cup game. The Reserves knew that this would be a difficult game today with Garibaldi still looking for there 1st win of the season. BAA lined up with the new team kit and the return of a previous BAA Reserve player in the name of Matty Cooke who was ment to be starting with the 1st team this season as well as Simon Cooke. With players like Chris Dillon, David Corkhill, Shane Corcoran, Stuart Tucker, Simon Howard and Ben Shaw missing for today’s game a few changes in position were needed. At the start of the game BAA started in a 4-4-2 formation and pushed hard from the 1st whistle. Straight away BA were pressing the travellers into there own half but on the 3rd minuet of the game mistake by inform keeper Joe Hook gave the Garibaldi no9 the opening goal by going forward when he was unable to get to the ball. Garibaldi scored an early goal on the reverse fixture only weeks ago. At the restart again the ball was in the travellers half until a counter attack was launched through midfield of Garibaldi and as it was played to the no9 again Joe made his efforts to go and win the ball but the composed no9 chipped the keeper from just inside the box making the score 2-0 to the away team. BA the pressed again and on the 16th minuet was awarded a few kick 20 yards out from goal. Kyle Jolley set the ball and as his run forward stepping over the ball caught every one out Richard Gaffan followed it up and put the ball in the top right corner of the away net. Quite simply a goal of class! From the restart BAA then held the Possession and a slight change was made which changed the game pushing Sunny Gill up top and Charlie Brown onto the left wing which made it solid and even created the opportunities for the whole game to come. At the start of the 2nd half with only dominating for 10 minuets in this half, an injured Simon Weatherall had to be substituted and after 3 months of not playing saw the return of Matty Cooke return the team. Unfortunately Matty would have to wait a while as after 5mins of being on the pitch he had rolled his ankle meaning not only did the manager have his hands full with 2 injures but he also had to deal with the hole that needed filling in the midfield. Another sub was made with Bradley Holdaway coming on for Matty Cooke in which Shane Bull moved into the Centre Mid role and Bradley Moved onto the right wing. With Luke Phillips and Charlie Brown ripping the travellers apart on the left wing it was only a matter of time before a goal was to come from it. The ball on the 62nd min was with Kyle Jolley in the centre midfield, he then laid the ball off to Charlie Brown who with a chipped shot chipped the Keeper from 25yards out giving him his 1st goal of the season. After this BAA pressed again knowing that another goal would come and with the ball being flicked on from Kyle, Bradley Holdaway nearly gained his 1st goal but as the ball from his head was going just wide of the far post, Sunny Gill managed to get his foot on the ball putting it into the net but early celebrations were soon called as the off side flag had been raised. Again with the amount of pressure being loaded on the opposition Sunny again had his opportunity to run at goal and as he played the ball the Burnham defender handled the ball in the box awarding BAA a penalty and saw him looking at an early red Christmas card. Sunny Gill placed the ball on the spot and after some considerable waiting for the referee to sort out the Garibaldi team left the BAA striker getting agitated. Sunny then took the pen but unfortunately the away keeper saved it leaving a gutted Sunny Gill. After this the ball again was in the away box and on the 82nd min the ball was bouncing around every where. This then fell to inform strike Mo Khan who smashed the ball into the back of the net making the score 3-2 for the home team. This was seen again as Mo Scored a dramatic late goal to win us the game at the reverse fixture. The final score was seen as 3-2 and the 1st home win of the season. BAA worked hard all game and this all made the difference in today’s game. Not a single player lacked in discipline or effort and this is exactly what is needed for us to push forward. BAA are now 5th in the league and are 1 point behind 4th spot and 4 points behind 3rd spot. The new goal for Christmas is to achieve as best results as possible to gain that 3rd spot going into the New Year. From today’s game every one was in contention for the man of the match award and this had to be cut down to the key players on the left wing in today’s game. Both Charlie and Luke worked there socks off and have formed a very good partnership linking well of each other very quickly. Luke Just edged it with his discipline, control, energy in attack and challenges but every one deserved it today so well done to Luke Phillips and everyone else on the team today.
