BAD DESIGNS.... The 2008 Subaru tribeca was $36,000-$45,000 depending on trim and features. Its supposed to be the high end outback. I had the 3.6 limited. 256hp @ 6000 rpm (which I never hit really....) and not a ton of torque, especially low down. DUMB for an SUV The 15/21 mpg was realistically 11/18. Bad features.... inherently or comparative.... 1) The competition has more powerful and economical engines. 2) The competition like durango and equinox have more cargo space 3) The tribeca has 300 mile tank range, the gas tank is too small 4) The back seat is uncomfortable and cramped for anyone over 4 tall 5) The center front arm console had minimal usable space 6) Not the best ground clearance in its class. 7) Overpriced for what it delivers vs promises 8) Unreliable- fraught with recalls and transmission failure 9) Depreciates MUCH faster and more profoundly than many SUVs under $50K 10) $1000+ for $60K and more for 120K tune up. 11) Many consumer claims of problems/LEMON status. 12) The seats are ok, not comfortable or commensurate with a luxury SUV 13) Low HP and torque not good for towing. 14) Not as quiet and smooth as other suvs on the highway. This car was a hard, painful lesson for me that there was no way to learn until AFTER I owned it. I can heartily recommend NO ONE buy it. There are far superior choices out there. This was a waste of money and an exercise in 6 years of aggravation for me. Good riddance to the worst new car I ever owned.
