BAKRI EID TRIVIA - 1) Bakri Eid is not the actual name of the festival, Eid Al Adha is - it is also called Feast of Sacrifice ... 2) It is not the only day in the world that goats are killed for sustenance. Ask any other non-vegetarian to confirm this really hard-to-get-fact (sarcasm). Unlike other sacrificial rituals the meat is sacrificed for the sake of God - true, but it is not for God - God is free from any wants. The sacrificed goats meat is divided among the poor, relatives and family. 3) Every other day of the year, non-vegetarians conveniently buy their meat from the butcher who does the killing. On Eid Al Adha, we are supposed to sacrifice goats that we have bought, taken care off and were supposed to respectfully take the life ourselves. 4) I cannot see how a sacrifice can be a sacrifice if you do not feel the sacrifice. If you think were supposed to be enjoying the killing, then ask yourself why it is called the Feast of Sacrifice. No, on this day like Ramadhan we must realize and respect the value of our sustenance, the value of what it takes for us to receive our sustenance. Any muslim that doesnt understand the value of the sacrifice being made, is not really doing the Eid Al Adha ritual, so dont blame the festival or the religion in such cases.
