BALLINSKELLIGS WELCOME HOME FESTIVAL Programme: Friday 19th at 8.00pm in Halla Pobail. Book launch – “Tobar an Dúchais” a collection of seanfhocail by Mícheál Ó Cróinín. Everyone welcome. This will be followed by entertainment in Tigh Rosie. Saturday 20th July at 8.00pm Talk in Halla Pobail. ‘ Seine Boats and Seine Fishing’ by Criostóir MacCarthaigh (Archivist with National Folklore Collection.) This will be followed by music and dance in Tigh Rosie and Cable O Leary’s. Wednesday 24th July: 8.30pm. Talk: ‘Salmon Fishing from Inny Strand in the 1960s’ by John P. McCarthy - Professor Emeritus at Fordham University. This will be followed by music and dance in Tigh Rosie. Thursday 25th July – The re-launch of the “Roving Swan” seine boat by Minister Deenihan. Cheese and wine reception and slide show on the history of “ The Roving Swan”. This will be followed by Gala Buffet in Cable O’Leary’s. Fri 26th July to Sunday 28th: A weekend of entertainment in Cable O’Learys with a complete range of music and dance. Events include; Friday 26th – Radio Kerry Road Show, Johnny Reidy Céilí band, McGill Brothers. Saturday 27th – Radio Kerry’s Dermot Moriarty and High Country Band, Rock Band ‘Firedrill’.
