BARRS CHAPEL CHRISTMAS EVENT ENJOYED BY ALL The small one-room - TopicsExpress

BARRS CHAPEL CHRISTMAS EVENT ENJOYED BY ALL The small one-room chapel, built in the 1890s, was filled to capacity as the Christmas Story was celebrated. Hurricane lamps gave the rooms only lighting; jackets provided warmth - well, except for the fellowship among the worshippers. It was obvious that word had spread that this would truly be a meaningful worship experience celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ; a service that would be hard to forget. Several years ago a few families joined together at the chapel to celebrate Christmas in an old-fashioned setting. Last year the program was expanded to include the children and others in musical performance with a Hanging of the Greens service. This year the program focused on the story of the birth of Christ and music by several vocalists as well as favorite Christmas hymns sung by the audience. The Westbrook family led the scripture readings, Cynthia Bull accompanied the vocalists, while Russ Wilkes played the introductory music. Pictured are the participants in speaking parts and in song. After the program, everyone joined together for soup, sides and dessert at the Westbrook home.
