BBM : ICONIC SYMBOL Sen. Bongbong attends INC’s Phil. Arena inaugural; impressed by the world-class sports facility This was how Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos, Jr. described the Philippine Arena, the centerpiece of the 50-hectare Ciudad de Victoria (City of Victory) eco-tourism complex of the Iglesia Ni Cristo in Bocaue, Bulacan, which was inaugurated last Monday (July 21). “It is going to become an iconic symbol, I think, not only of the Iglesia Ni Cristo but the entire Philippines. We would be recognized for this amazing structure that the Iglesia has built,” Sen. Bongbong said in an interview. He attended the inauguration upon the invitation of the INC. He added: “It’s terribly impressive. I’ve only seen it from the air when we fly past…you can’t miss it. But it’s the first time I’ve come inside and seen it up close and it’s even bigger (than I thought it would be).” Sen. Bongbong expressed admiration to the INC for coming up with such a big project which will serve as an inspiration to the people in many ways. “The Iglesia Ni Cristo has never been one to think small, and the Iglesia Ni Cristo has always thought in a very national—now international—scale. I can only say congratulations to the Iglesia Ni Cristo again, and again, and again for this great thing that they have made,” he said. The Senator also said the arena will inspire young artists to strive hard in order to achieve great accomplishments in the field of arts and culture; attract visitors, not only domestic but foreign tourists as well; and inspire athletes to excel in their respective sports disciplines because they will be using a world-class sports complex. The senator also conveyed his congratulations to INC, which is celebrating its centennial this year. He expressed hope that it will move on to bigger and greater things as well as continue the good work in bringing people closer to God. “I’d like, of course, to greet and to join in the celebration of the centennial year of the founding of the Iglesia Ni Cristo. Iglesia Ni Cristo has established itself as one of the great movements in our country and have been a critical part in our national development,” Sen. Bongbong said.
