BE ANXIOUS FOR NOTHING For Reading: Philippians 4:4-9 MEMORY VERSE: “So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. (Mathew 6:34) Satan’s strategies to enslave many Christians are many. Some of them are to distract them from fixing their eyes on Jesus through worry, acute anxiety, hatred, inferiority complex, depression, self hatred and unforgiveness. In Economics, there is a concept of scarcity which states that human wants exceed the resources available to satisfy them. This is true, since as Christians our wants are numerous and we always want to get them for our visions to be materialized. However, in today’s reading, Apostle Paul admonished us that even though we have countless needs, we should not be worried about them, since by our own might we cannot get them. He rather advises that in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving we should continue to let our requests be made known to God. Note that worrying does not answer prayer, neither does it win battles. Worrying too much about an issue implies lack of faith in God, and without faith it is impossible to please God. (Hebrews 11:6). This does not however means that we should not plan, strategize, work diligently and continue to fold our hands only praying and worshipping the Lord, thinking that God will rain manna from heaven for us. We should do away with laziness, life void of vision and oversleeping, and concentrate on our visions in life trusting the Lord that He will supply all our needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Above all we should note that with all our beautiful plans for the future, tomorrow will care for itself, and each day has enough trouble of its own. (Mathew 6:34). D.A MEDITATION • Why am I so anxious about my wants as if I can provide them by myself? • Why don’t I praise and trust God after praying over an issue? PRAYER Holy Spirit, help me to know that you can do all things for me according to your own set time. THOUGHT “My hope is built on nothing less Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness: I dare not trust the sweetest frame, But wholly lean on Jesus’ name. From disciple
