BEAU UPDATE! :) Beau is just great, Barb. He is very gentle and well-mannered. The first night, we were all tired from the road trip and winding down in the family room and I could sense that he knew it was late and was wondering when we were going to bring him back to his new people. But he came upstairs when we did and settled down on his new bed and slept through the night (both nights) without a whine or a whimper. I take him out back first thing for a bio break, and then he launches a ball at my feet while I explain that I’m busy working the magic coffee machine. Beau has been very easy on the leash. He perks up when he sees other dogs (or people), but he doesn’t lunge or bark. Rabbits and squirrels have jumped across our paths, and he is not reactive. We can see that his size holds him back quite a bit, but that should get better over time as he trims up. It’s nice that he doesn’t charge down the steps or lunge past our knees at the door, and waits to be invited out. Tom put him out in the yard for a little while yesterday afternoon. When he came inside to make his lunch, Beau stood at the gate and barked, as you said he does when left alone. Not surprised. He is great in the house and has checked out all the rooms by now. Tom will probably take the crate down today and stow it, as he really doesn’t need it. Other than that, we’re just taking it easy and getting him used to our routines and our comings & goings. He is a great boy and we are very happy with how it’s going. Thanks, Margie & Tom
