BIG DIAMOND SPEEDWAY MODIFIEDS DIRT SANCTIONED IN 2014; HOOSIER MID ATLANTIC SIGNS ON AS 358 MODIFIED DIVISION SPONSOR; VP RACING FUELS ALSO ON BOARD MINERSVILLE, PA - October 24th, 2013 For the first time in track history, Big Diamond Speedway will fly the DIRTcar banner over the facility for the 2014 racing season. DIRTcar’s Director of Series & Sanctioning Joe Skotnicki, along with Jake Smulley, reached the agreement recently and details were first released in this weeks AARN. This marks yet another exciting change since the Smulleys took over prior to the 2013 season. The track will continue to offer one of the highest weekly 358 modified purses in the nation, paying $2,750 to win a regular 25 lap feature event and $225 to take the green. Recently it was also announced that should the modified field have 33 cars attempting to qualify for a regular 25 lap feature, the purse will be raised to $3,200 to win and $275 to take the green. It should be noted that even though Big Diamond Speedway has joined the DIRTcar fold, the 358 modifieds are the only one of the four regular divisions that will be DIRTcar sanctioned. Also, an important note to all 358 modified teams, Big Diamond and DIRTcar management have a reached an agreement that will see the current rules package in place at Big Diamond phased into DIRTcar rules over a period of time, with management from both sides having input in regard to these regulations. DIRTcar 358 Modified Series rules will remain intact for the all Series events. 2014 will be the first time a DIRTcar division has run at Big Diamond since Duane Howard won a Super DIRTcar Big-Block Modified Series race there in 2009. Brett Hearn in 2004 and Alan Johnson in 2003 also won Super DIRTcar Big-Block Modified races at Big Diamond. The Super DIRTcar Big Block Modified Series will make an appearance at Big Diamond on Tuesday, July 15 for a 75 lap event paying $6,000 to win. New at Big Diamond Speedway in 2014 is the partnership between Big Diamond and Hoosier Mid Atlantic. The three year Hoosier tire deal marks the first time in years that the American Racer BGP stamped tire will not be used at the track. This change was driven by the fact track management was informed a few weeks back that Grandview Speedway decided to end a partnership on the tire deal. Since the BGP stamp was no longer an option, management decided to look at every option, and Hoosier Mid Atlantic came back with the most impressive offer for everyone involved. Hoosier Mid Atlantic and Big Diamond will give away over $36,000 in FREE tires over the next three years along with thousands of dollars worth of merchandise to the fans. Over $40,000 worth of product will be given back to the racers and our loyal fans! Hoosier Mid Atlantic has also signed on to be the title sponsor for the 358 Modifieds over the next three seasons. A track tire distributor has not yet been named, but offers are on the table and an announcement is forthcoming. VP Racing Fuels is also a three year deal, with Roadrunner Racing Fuels named as the official fuel distributor at the speedway. Racers and fans can expect free weekly giveaways from VP. There is exciting news for the other divisions too, as it was recently announced that should the field of cars for any of the other three classes reach 33 cars for a regular show, they too will get a boost in pay. The Late Models will get $1,200 to win and $150 to take the green, the Sportsman will get $1,000 to win and $125 to take the green, and the Roadrunners will get $400 to win and $40 to take the green. This is only in affect for their regular 20 lap feature events when cars counts are 33 cars or more. Otherwise, standard purse payouts will apply. The season kicks off March 2nd thru March 8th, with the annual Big Diamond Speedway car show at the Fairlane Village Mall in Pottsvile. A few weeks later, on Sunday, March 23rd, there will be a test and tune session for any car from any track, provided it has a roll cage. One week later on March 30th, as mentioned above, is opening day with the Hoosier Mid Atlantic 358 Modifieds going 30 laps for $3,000 to win and $300 to take the green. Sportman will go 20 laps on opening day for $1,000 to win, and the Roadrunners will go 20 laps for $300 to win. The following week on Friday, April 4th will be the 2nd annual Money in the Mountains big block/small block challenge race once again going 40 laps for $7,500 to win and $500 to take the green. Also on the card that evening will be the Late Models and Roadrunners. Many more exciting events are planned for the 2014 season, with a complete schedule to be released in the very near future.
