BILLY NUNN IS A KEYBOARDIST FROM BUFFALO N.Y. NOW LIVING IN L.V. COVERING EVERYTHING FROM JAZZ TO FUNK. KEYBOARDIST & VOCALIST FOR THE ORIGINAL STONE CITY BAND It was the song, A Walk on the Wild Side, by The Great Jimmy Smith on a Hammond B3 Organ. The sound of that B3 Organ excited Billy and he started playing in his senior year at Hutch Tech Senior High School in Buffalo New York. He knew even then that the future for him was to be a professional musician. Now Billy Nunn is among the most gifted and versatile B3 Organist and Keyboardist today. A STAR WAS BORN . At the age of nineteen, after only one year playing the Hammond B3 he gave his first concert. The time Jimmy Smith and Jack McDuff spent coaching Billy (when they stop by his parents home, coming through or gigging in Buffalo) were not in vain. Smith and McDuff legendary style along many other great organists inspired Billy with the unique sound, of funk, jazz, and classy soul with a twist of Latin in the mix. You can still hear Billys flavor played on the radio today in Rick James music. (Billy was a major part of the band before Rick gave them the title The Stone City Band and reunited with the other original Stone City Band members in early 2005 to take the funk to the future). Some of the places and people that Billys performed with, The Annual Bern Switzerland Jazz Festival, with the Ray Bailey Trio, Butch Lewis Birthday Party, Denzel Washingtons Hollywood Star Signing after party with Darcus Speed Gates, with Tevin Campbell for the Jazz Las Vegas Jazz festivals Members Party for Kazico LLC., Celine Dions Birthday Party, with Keith Washington, Bobby Womack, George Benson, Bobby Nunn, Skip Martin, Charlie Wilson, at Baron Alf s Estate, Buffalo New York Annual June-tenth Celebration, The Annual Pine Grill Jazz festivals, as Guest Speaker at McKinley High School Black History Conference in Buffalo, NY on Jazz for two consecutive years. Billy received a Gold Album for his work on Come and Get it and Platinum for the single Mary Jane. (Rick James record.) Billy Nunn being co-writer. (Original Keyboardist for The Stone City Band before Rick went on tour). Billy Nunn introduced Phillip Bailey of Earth Wind and Fire to his younger brother Bobby Nunn talent, and Then Group Splendor was put on the map. Because of Billy Nunns introduction the Album Splendor was born were youll find Billy Nunn, Bobby Nunn and Phillip Bailey recorded a single cut on the album entitled, All Night Long. Billy has recorded with Motown, Columbia, MoDo, Solid State, Milestone, and Virgin Records. At the age of twenty, he took a job with The Great Johnny Lytle. (Billy recorded 3 albums with Mr. Lytle.) One year later, after hearing Billy play The Hammond B3, he was off to Japan with The Softtones, as well as recorded an wrote some songs with the Softtones (Billy met both entertainers at Jans Supper Club in Buffalo, New York, his dads club, were many legends of today performed). Wherever Billy played, Organ or Keyboards, he overwhelmingly amazed music lovers of the world.
