BJJ is a highly technical, and complex system with many - TopicsExpress

BJJ is a highly technical, and complex system with many established techniques and many new and evolving techniques. This is what makes this such an exciting art. It is however quite a difficult process to make sense of this complexity in the first few years of training. Every training session is a journey of learning and forgetting. Learning a new technique everytime you go to class from a seemingly bottomless pit of techniques that your coach has to draw on. Forgetting, in that there is a troubling realisation that the student is learning more than they are consolidating. Some techniques become part of a small subset that the student actually learns, and makes their own. These are the go to moves.Often these have been consolidated by constant practise, or by pulling them off in competitive rolling. This instructional video from Jason Scully shows some of this complexity in 7 minutes of Guard sweep demos. See how many you recognise and how many you can actually do?https://youtube/watch?v=cxc6uoaso7Q
