BLOG #40 Today we are going to do another restaurant review. The restaurant to be discussed is APPLEBEES, a national chain with two locations in Lakeland, Florida. Last night my lovely bride and I attended the Applebees location in N. Lakeland on Socrum Loop. The restaurant was fairly busy and on entrance gives a pleasant atmosphere. This restaurant chain has spent a lot of money upgrading and adding menu items chasing the pack with two fers. They should have saved their money. The menu is somewhat boring and unoriginal. The food appearance was completely unattractive and the taste was stale as if the breading was tainted of stale or the deep fryer oil was old. We order onion rings as an appetizer, only because it was included, and found that they were made from HUGE onion ring slices , the appearance of which was a complete turn off. We then order the crunchy fried shrimp which in the menu appears to be a extra large light golden brown tempura batter. What we got was a bucket load of small to medium size shrimp in breading that did not have a pleasant taste, and was not in my opinion sold as advertised. All in all the appearance and taste were a complete turnoff. So do yourself a favor in my opinion and eat somewhere else.
