BLUE WAVE 2014 CHAMPIONS! Blue Wave defeats the Comets 12-6 Congratulations to Hector for an outstanding job. Alll the coaches, players and parents for a magical season and a gut wrenching final. Does it always have to rain on these games? Blue Wave dominated the game with a very strong defense and downhill running all night. After a strong drive in the first quarter, Blue Wave took a 6-0 lead. The Comets struck on a long run after a short pass on the first half to make it 6-6. They had a couple of solid inside runs at the beginning of the game but after that, the Blue Wave defense got stingy. The half ended 6-6. In the second half after the Comets decided to go for it on fourth down and about 5-6 yards in mid field and failed, the Blue Wave offense struck quickly on a couple of strong runs and a beautiful long pass play. Plenty of time by the offensive line for a crossing pattern over the middle, deep for the winning points. Blue Wave went ahead 12-6! As the game was ending, with about 3-4 minutes to go and the Comets on their own 20, the struck with a double pass play to the 50 and a long pass of their QB under severe pressure and the Comets were inside our 10!! Hold On! They spiked the ball to stop the clock and on the next play, under super heavy pressure their QB tried to get off a pass that became a bloop into the hands of a Blue Wave defender. A couple of kneel downs and the game was over. At the end of the night the defense, which had dominated all night sealed the victory and Championship. A well deserved win in which the final score does not represent the ebb and flow of the game and defensive dominance by the Blue Wave team. Outstanding defense outside of maybe three plays. In particular with about 5 or 6 miuntes to go, they ran a center screen that was tipped by an unrushing lineman. If the pass had been completed, he might still be running! Special note to great ball handling all night by our QB. Even after it began to rain and rain hard it did! Very sharp and crisp long snaps on our punts, specially towards the end when the pressure was on and everything was VERY wet. Outstanding downhill running all night by #32 and specially by #24.Slashing disciplined runs by them and the other BW ball carriers, hard into the Comet defensive line. OUTSTANDING EFFORT BY ALL. Congratulations! BLUE WAVE PR HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL CHAMPIONS 2014 !!!!!
