BRAZILIAN FOOTBALL & THE WORLD CUP On July 8th I was eager to watch on TV, The World Cup Semi-Final between Brazil and Germany, Since this fixture had brought together, 2 footballing nations of the highest calibre. Early on it became apparent, That Brazil were effectively absent, From a match that was so pivotal, And was played on their home soil. Germany scored 5 goals in the first forty five minutes, Brazil had no answer to this football blitz, The match ended with Germany winning 7-1, And Brazil’ reputation for football prowess was undone. For Brazil the memories of 2014, Will be what might have been, For football fans worldwide this year, Brazilian football reached a new nadir. England’s long suffering football fans as a matter of course, Can empathize with the Brazilians being a spent force, For this, Brazil will now seek out who to name and shame, Oh well as we say in England “it’s a funny old game”.
