BREAKIN NEWS!!!!! Seven Persons Roasted to Death While Trying to Scoop Petrol from a Fallen Tanker in Lapai. Seven persons have been killed while trying to scoop fuel from a fallen Tanker at Farin Maza Village, some 10 Kilometers away from Lapai town in Lapai Local Government Area of Niger State. Eyewitnesses say that four out of the nine other victims currently receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Center, Bida, are said to be in critical condition. Reacting to the incident, the Emir of Lapai, Alhaji Umar Bago III expressed sadness and warned the youths to desist from scooping petrol from fallen tankers. He commiserated with the families of those who lost their lives and prayed God to grant their souls eternal rest. Also speaking, the Director General of State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA), Alhaji Shaba Mohammed described the incident as unfortunate and promised that the agency would settle the hospital bills of those receiving treatment. Lapai Local Government Council Chairman, Alhaji Isah Saidu Baka commiserated with the victims and promised to assist the families of the deceased. He used the opportunity to call on the Federal Government to rehabilitate Lapai-Suleja road so as to reduce carnage on the road.
