BREAKING NEWS...By Tiri Kuimbakul According to Time Magazine (29th July 2013 edition), of the 6,800 known languages in the world, 850 (12.5%) are spoken in Papua New Guinea. That makes PNG the language capital of the world! The average Papua New Guinean can speak at least 3 languages. Here is what the report says about people who can speak more than one language: Research is increasingly showing that the brains of people who know two or more languages are different from those who know just one - and those differences are all for the better. Multilingual people are better at reasoning, at multi-tasking, at grasping and reconciling conflicting ideas. They work faster and expend less energy doing so, and as they age, they retain their cognitive faculties longer... it appears that the bilingual brain is simply more efficient. If we Papua New Guineans used our brains well, we would be the most successful people in the world and PNG would be the most powerful country in the world.
