BREAKING NEWS from the National Weather Service in Albany: We have conducted a storm survey for the thunderstorms that produced damage across southern Herkimer and western Montgomery Counties on Thursday, July 3rd, 2014. The survey found that straight line winds from a series of thunderstorm downbursts caused damage at several locations along a 30 mile path. Winds were as high as 100 MPH, causing damage to trees and structures. It was NOT a tornado that caused the damage in Herkimer and Montgomery Counties.
