BROOM PLATFORM AND THE APC PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN By TAFA MUSTAPHA He who knows the big talkers should take warning from them. The talkers talk themselves into believing their bombast. They are great liars but they are hardly conscious of it. I said to myself here is a lesson for me because he who tells little lies will soon think nothing of great ones, for the principle of lies is the same. This platform is one of the sequential strategies put in place by Dr Tom Ohikere to check and re-check the administrative activities of the All Progressive Congress (APC). Ladies and gentlemen, there is no good in lying down to cry for it is so natural that there is always help “God help us” but God helps those who help themselves. The Broom Platform is a coalition that makes up the supporters and members of the APC and those who believe in POSITIVE CHANGE. The Broom Platform has also created spacious room for the optimists and a considerable room for the pessimists. Verily, this Broom Platform has taken upon itself to oversee the activities of the party online, addressing and informing millions of Nigerians that follow the APC trends or subjects. The Broom Platform is the first of its kind across the country positioning the party with proof that the party’s leadership is purely base on the interests of all involved. The Broom Platform has also taken upon itself to see that it is only fair for ordinary Nigerians to be heard and their opinions are respected when it comes to electing their leaders. That is why Dr Tom Ohikere who is a former Kogi State Commissioner for Information is calling on all Nigerians through the Broom platform to get involved and start accounting for governance in the country. The Broom Platform is out to clearly tell the world that the APC is devoid of imposition of aspirants as always practiced by the so-called giant party. The presidential campaign is no child play for it determines the future of our youths, it determines the health condition of the aged, it determines how well we sleep(whether with two eyes closed or with one/two eye(s) open), it determines how we commute daily, it determines how much we pay to acquire knowledge, it determines whether we can afford to pay the doctor when we are sick (if the doctor is not away for poor welfare), it determines the fairness of our judiciary system, it determines how we are appreciated after serving the nation for many years, it determines how we are treated for imparting knowledge, it determines how much a bowl of garri costs, it determines our fares from north to south or west to east, it determines whether the lenders can help us start business (if we are not ask to submit the impossible), it determines the tariff on goods imported, it determines how long it takes a graduate to get a job, it determines the cost of running our automobiles, it determines the value of our Naira to foreign currencies, it determines whether we will continue burning candles or lamps or running generators for domestic uses, it determines whether the taxes we pay are put to work for us, it determines whether those who manage our resources are accountable, it determines the authenticity of goods imported, it determines whether our talents are wasted or not, it determines whether we are given equal chances in sports, it determines how much we pay for rents, it determines how fast we get help when faced with the unfortunate, it determines whether we get proper welfare for watching over lives and properties, it determines the peaceful co-existence among Nigerians, etc. The Presidential campaign is the mother of all campaigns and must not be compromised in any way or at any cost. I have on a personal ground gone round and studied the interests of Nigerians at every nook and place even in public buses, restaurants, beer parlours, markets, offices, higher institutions and meetings and I was convinced and able to understand that Nigerians are tired of today’s government. I was also meant to understand that promises made at elections have long ears. Their promises that never met the light of day. Over the years, APC has produced credible leaders... tested, trusted, reliable, accountable and God fearing in a way. These leaders on the platform of APC are leaders of integrity and understanding. Leaders who have over the years worked with the masses, the electorates, and the people. They understand the plights of the ordinary citizens. With these good ones, there is hope of better ones. The Broom Platform has come to stay, it has come to help not just members but also Nigerians following issues relating to APC’s presidential election by voting for any candidate aspiring to carry the party’s flag. The emergence of these aspirants lie in your hands as such not only the party delegates elect, you are also involved. The Broom Platform is devoid of biasness and will never give lie to truth as practiced in other parties. Nigeria is on the verge of being orphaned by the hands of her citizens and come 2015, we must correct that. Let’s get together to end a failing leadership and the reward will be unfailing. The Broom Platform is here to help sustain what democracy stands for internally and externally and also help maintain the credibility of the party – that is being responsible. This platform is calling on you to be accountable for governance in a responsible way.
