BURN IN HELL . . . December 15, 1961 -- Adolph Eichmann was sentenced to death -- Otto Adolf Eichmann : 19 March 1906 – 31 May 1962 was a German Nazi SS (lieutenant colonel) and one of the major organizers of the Holocaust. Eichmann was charged by SS-Obergruppenführer Reinhard Heydrich with facilitating and managing the logistics of mass deportation of Jews to ghettos and extermination camps in German-occupied Eastern Europe during World War II. In 1960, he was captured in Argentina by the Mossad, Israels intelligence service. Following a widely publicized trial in Israel, he was found guilty of war crimes and hanged in 1962. Eichmann was hanged shortly before midnight at a prison in Ramla, Israel. He refused a last meal (preferring instead a bottle of wine) as well as the traditional black hood. His last words were: Long live Germany. Long live Argentina. Long live Austria. These are the three countries with which I have been most connected and which I will not forget. I greet my wife, my family and my friends. I am ready. Well meet again soon, as is the fate of all men. I die believing in God. Within four hours Eichmanns body had been cremated at a secret location, and his ashes scattered in international waters in the Mediterranean by an Israeli Navy patrol boat.
