BWSUNDAY: GOVERNMENT RECEIVES 17,000 BIBLES Mr Francois Conradie of Discovery Drilling and Prophet Mark Labuschagne of Mark Labuschagne Ministries and his wife Annette have donated 17000 Setswana and English bibles to be distributed by Government. Speaking at the donation ceremony held at the Mass Media Complex on Wednesday (6/11/13), the Minister of Agriculture, the Honourable Christiaan de Graaff said the bibles would be donated to government departments and institutions such as hospitals and schools, observing: “In a world full of challenges ranging from criminal activities to moral decay, we can hardly have peace of mind if we do not have a spiritual base.” Minister De Graaff further said Batswana were worried about their personal security and were equally concerned that their children might be into cults that could ruin their future. “With all these concerns, we must turn to God and ask for His protection,” he said, adding the donated bibles were a link between Batswana and God. Therefore, this gift comes at the right time. The challenges faced by our children in the modern world of technology through social media are exposed to influences that we parents are not familiar to. “It is for this reason that they should be well grounded on the values of our society and the Christian faith,” he added. “If we go this route, less of our children will engage in criminal activities and they will focus on activities that will build them a good future. Minister De Graaff said the bible, with its teachings, will assist in building a better Botswana.“The bibles will expose them to the word of God which preaches love for fellow human beings, morality, obedience and generosity,” he said. He further said abiding by the bible will add value to the economy as it will lead to improvement in service delivery. Receiving the bibles, the Assistant Minister for Presidential Affairs and Public Administration, Mr Gaotlhaetse Matlhabaphiri, said they were highly welcomed, especially because they were written in both English and Setswana.
