Baby Jack update: Jack and I had a lazy day at home, not doing - TopicsExpress

Baby Jack update: Jack and I had a lazy day at home, not doing much of anything. It was truly splendid. First, he rearranged his room. He likes to have everything where he can see it- all over the floor. Once he had emptied his toy box, Jack crawled around the room playing, while I called his daddy to see how his workday was going. Right away, Jack knew I was talking to his daddy and he climbed up in my lap. Jack let me know that he had important things to discuss with him, so I put the phone on speaker. Then the boys had a lively conversation. We have to call Daddy at least once a day when hes working, and it always makes Jack so happy. If we cant call, then Jack will send him a text message. He loves typing on my phone and Halston says its fun to receive his gibberish messages. After we checked on Halston, Jack and I played some more, took care of the puppies, and relaxed. I wanted to watch a tv show, but Jack was not so interested. He was supposed to be playing in his red car. The only problem was, he kept trying to escape over the side of the car and crawl out of the room. Therapy has been so wonderful, teaching him to be mobile and figure out how to move his body into and out of certain positions, but now I cant get him to stay put! Haha. He can escape from almost anything. But I wont complain at all, because I am so thankful that The Lord has brought him this far. Since Jack didnt want to play in his car or watch my boring show, we found something he would like. I was searching for a kids show and found Classic Sesame Street. The episode we watched originally aired in 1969. The same old theme song brought back my own childhood memories, but I was surprised how different the picture quality and animation was at that time. And you know what? Forty-five years later, my baby still found it entertaining. Technology and entertainment has changed dramatically over the years, but people are still the same. When I taught second grade, the kids loved watching Charlie Brown or Buggs Bunny from decades before. Children will laugh at the same jokes their great grandparents enjoyed at their age. Why? Because people are still people. We are made from the same stuff that we have always been made of since God created Adam. Sometimes we read the Bible as if it is describing supernatural humans. God used people like Noah and Abraham and Moses to do great things, but were they special somehow? We could never be like them, right? Wrong! All of the characters (except The Lord, of course!) in the Bible were real people. They were human and flawed, just like us. Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit. (James 5:17-18) Elijah was just an ordinary man. He was a sinner, he was a complainer, he was grumpy, and he got hungry, thirsty, tired, and even scared... Just like us. And God used him as a messenger and a miracle worker. God knows what we are made of. He made us! He knows we are weak and shaken in the wind. When He works through us, His power, strength, and grace is glorified for all to see. If God can use someone like me or you to do something big for Him, He must be a very mighty God, indeed. Dont read The Bible like It is a collection of stories that happened once upon a time, in a faraway land, to extraordinary people. It is The Word of God, true from the beginning to the end. The events happened here on this earth, just a few thousand years ago, to real, everyday people. Sometimes the only difference between someone like Elijah and someone like me, is one of us had the faith to call down fire from Heaven and the other had her doubts. Remember people today are the same as they have always been. If God used people in the past, He can and will use us today. We just need to be willing servants and most importantly- have the faith that God can do anything. Because God hasnt changed either! He still answers prayers and works miracles, if only we trust in Him. I thank The Lord that He will use us as His servants when we have faith in Him. I thank Him for Jack and the day we shared. Thank you for praying to keep Jack healthy, eating, and breathing.
