Back to Church Sunday is what we are calling tomorrow at Gateway. Our Children’s Ministry (Kidz World (K-6th Grade) & Tiny Town (Birth through Pre-school) is putting on a big reception for parents with children at both services, so don’t miss the food and fellowship in the Courtyard tomorrow morning. Speaking about Children’s Ministry, we were all deeply moved by our Director, DeVonna Dray’s impassioned plea last Sunday. She told the story of a young man who is very close to her and her family. Right now he is clinging to life in a hospital in Los Angeles because he chose to drive with a drunk and was involved in a tragic accident that left him like a vegetable. Unless God intervenes, he will remain that way for the unforeseen future. The sad fact is that he was brought to Sunday school and then dropped off by his parents who then had little spiritual influence in his life. As he grew up, the presence of the Holy Spirit dissipated from his life and behavior, and now he lies there with an uncertain and broken future. DeVonna plead with you parents to be a force for God in the lives of your children, and don’t just “drop them off” or not even bring them to church and miss the opportunity to impact their lives for Christ. What will you be doing tomorrow morning at 9:00 AM or 11:15 AM? Sleeping in, planning a fun day, neglecting to worship as a family? Answer that question with that dying young man in your thoughts, because that could one day be your child. “Thanks, DeVonna, for calling all of us to greater diligence in our walk with Christ and spiritual leadership in our families. You touched our hearts and hopefully changed our commitment from spiritually “off and on Christians” to committed Christians.” Let’s all be “Back to Church” this Sunday and every Sunday.
