Baker County Health Department confirms two recent cases of chicken pox, both students at a local school: Alicia Hills, nursing supervisor at the Baker County Health Department, declined to name the school, but she said school officials reported the cases, which were confirmed, to the Health Department about two weeks ago. Hills said one of the two students had received both recommended doses of the chicken pox vaccine, and the other student had not. Hills said she also has received reports of as many as four other cases of chicken pox, but none has been confirmed. She recommends anyone with questions about chicken pox, or about vaccine-preventable diseases in general, call the Health Department at 541-523-8211. See Wednesdays Baker City Herald for a story.
